Integrated Pest Management

Ravine is committed to creating a safer environment for its employees and customers.
In 2009 Ravine set up an IPM unit; a start in the roadmap towards more self-sustainable organic methods of crop protection. The unit is on 1.4ha and once stabilized will have the capacity to produce 2million phytos a week; enough to cover the entire farm.

Each farm unit has a crop protection team including scouters whose responsibility it is to search out pests and evaluate whether they are suitable for IPM and recommend the appropriate treatment.

The optimum outcome is significantly reduced usage of chemicals on the plants, reducing our costs but also making the farm more environmentally sustainable.
